Good entertaining story. I don't especially like first person narrative in that when the tale is related as a past experience; you already know the outcome. Occasionally the narrator, "Mount", uses modern terminology which, for me, distracts from the historical aspect of the book. But it is a good read and worth the time.
This is the perfect book to read on those chilly, gray and rainy Fall days when you can smell the chili simmering away on the stove as your faithful dog lays curled up by your feet and you barely notice the popping of the fire burning in the fireplace. It doesn't get any better than that.
Very good book,depicts very well the times of the fur trade and the opening of the Oregon trail,The dream of Jefferson of "a country from ocean to ocean". The making of a great nation. The characters are well developed the love story well done,I would recommend this book without reservations,I did enjoy it a great deal
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A great adventure of this mountain man written in the first person. Loved the wit and humor along the way.
An unusually good book! This action, adventure book describes a really believable character
liked the plot, the flow of the book and very entertaining, really enjoyed the description of the land and strength of the people who settled the srea.
I enjoyed this so much. There is a lot of tongue in cheek humor and some of the action is a bit of a stretch of the imagination, but it was great entertainment and a joy to read.
Not much of a book, readable but would not read again or recommend it. I like mountain man type books this one was way too far fetched.
