What is God in the Hindu Dharma" is an easy-to-read book for the hardest-to-find answers. At a time when the world is turning more "spiritual and not religious" without really understanding what it means, Nina Ram's book is a refreshing re-introduction to the Hindu Dharma. Many beautiful, and wonderfully exotic, forms of Hindu gods have now become familiar in the west. Elephant-headed Ganesha images are often seen at yoga studios, and Krishna has been quoted by Oppenheimer. To anyone who isn't paying close attention, it would appear that the Hindu tradition believes in many Gods. Indeed, even to casual practitioners born into the tradition, the unity of divinity is not clearly explained. The rising mountain of disinformation on the Internet does not help either, and serious spiritual seekers are deprived of the beauty and directness that is at the heart of the Hindu dharma. While outwardly the Hindu tradition appears to have many Gods, with a capital G, the core finding of the tradition is that Truth is One, even though sages call it by many names. Seekers of God would profit much by starting with Nina Ram's book.Nina begins the book at the beginning, with the exaltations in the Rig Veda, calling out to the Purusha, the Cosmic Being. She has selected some of the most profound sections of the Vedas and the Bhagavadgita into this book. She quotes directly from Sanskrit verses and also provides a brief translation and her commentary. Her style is approachable and non-threatening, so new seekers will find it easy to relate to and follow along. What would take several lifetimes of searching and dead-end leads has been condensed into a simple book. Serious seekers can take the hints presented in this book and proceed on their onward journey in confidence.

This short, simple book extracts some of the most meaningful poems and passages from ancient Hindu scriptures to try to explain how to begin thinking about a universal consciousness. It's amazing that those ancient philosophers thought so deeply about the most fundamental of human questions- "What is God?" and came up with a quantum physics-like answer of simultaneous existence/non existence to try to encompass the concept.Quoting relevant Vedic verses in Sanskrit with clear translations, Nina Ram makes this complex philosophical argument accessible to the lay reader.A must-read for the spiritually curious.

This book is easy to understand, informative and short. It lays forward some of the important passages from the Hindu religious texts and helps one understand the meaning of god, supreme power and soul as explained in Vedas.I particularly enjoyed Nina’s translations of Narayana Sukta where she has explained the concept of Narayana or supreme being in Hindu dharma. Arjun’s 7 questions to Lord Krishna and his answers have been explained very well in the last chapter as well.Nina has clearly written this book for a person like me, who would not have normally ventured out to read about some of these writings due to their complex language. For a student of world religions this should be added to their reading list and for every Hindu, this is a must-read.

If you’ve ever wanted to know more, to dive deeper in to the wellspring of ancient wisdom that has formed the foundation of what we experience in a yoga class, or singing Kirtan, or in our own practice, this book is for you. One of my favorite writers, Nina Ram, has just released this book that covers so much, and answers the kinds of questions that many of us on this path have. Thank you for this treasure!

I liked the simple way of explaining the important aspects of Purusha Suktha. The book is beautifully written to bring out the very essence of the sukthas and upanishads. It is brings out the subject very clearly. I couldn't stop reading the book and I finished it in one sitting. Thank you for the wonderful contribution. With God's blessing you will be write and publish many more books.
