I have done something similar with a spreadsheet, both for vocabulary and irregular verb forms, which has the advantage of being easily randomized, checking the answers against a look-up list on a separate sheet, and keeping track of your score.He has a brief paragraph or two on a particular problem that affects North American learners: that they will have to choose between Castilian and South American Spanish, and numerous different regions within the Americas, each with its own idioms and characteristic pronunciation. He is wise in his advice to stick to standard forms wherever possible, but standard forms are often not what you will generally hear.But I absolutely agree with his bottom line. Becoming fluent in Spanish, indeed any language, requires two things. First, regular and disciplined groundwork in the study. Sorry the author didn't zap you fluent! It's time suck it up and do the work and daily disciplines it takes to be fluent in Spanish. Best $3.00 I have spent in a while. Like a previous comment stated, it is common sense advice, however having it mapped out is a real help. I strated using it right away with the vocabulary from the novel I am reading in spanish. I put my words in Quizlet so I could practice, and I have a notebook where i am writing out evey word with definition 10 times. I have seen improvement already in my reading and retention of meaning. I will gradually get into the other strategies. (I have already purchased a mini tape recorder).

Yes, this book is super short. Yes, I still think it's worth the money I paid for it. Sometimes you just need someone to lay down the law for you and John Del Gaudio does that. This is what it takes to master Spanish. It's probably not the only way to do it, but it seems sound. I've only seriously studied Spanish for a few months, but I find myself constantly losing the majority of vocabulary I've learned and I needed to find a way to make it stick. What he recommends is not brain science, but simply a practical, easy to implement way of mastering a foreign language. It doesn't take many materials, but it does take discipline. It's up to you to decide if you have it.

Most job-hunters assume it has just one: sell the employer on the idea that you’re the best person for the job. From the minute the interview begins, sell, sell, sell.No, no, no. A true conversation has two stages, for both participants: first, information gathering, and only then, selling yourself. What kind of information do you as job-hunter want to gather? That’s pretty simple. You use the interview to satisfy your every curiosity about the place, the job, and the people there. You try to find out “Do I like you all? Do I want to work here?” You want to find that out now, not have to quit in two months, or somewhere down the road.Only when you have finished your information gathering, only if you have concluded “Yes, I think I do want to work here,” do you then turn your energy toward the second phase of the conversation: marketing—selling them on the idea that You’re The One. It goes without saying that the interview is an information-gathering process for the employer as well. The book had some good advice but I would recommend looking at other books before settling on this one. I found books more targeted towards practicing interview questions at my local library.

Having recently been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea (from a take home sleep unit), I came across this book while looking for information online while waiting for a more intensive sleep study which would have me use a cpap. Big bonus..the Kindle edition was free and it was an easy readThe information is similar to what you will find online, but it is nice to have one source describe and give (seemingly honest) opinions on the different treatments options. Sometimes the information you find online are tilted towards particular therapies and may not give you and honest assessment. Even with the medical professionals I've interacted with thus far in my diagnosis haven't really brought up any other therapies other than cpap.In summation, I found this book to be a nice basic summary of sleep apnea and one person's honest reaction/feedback on different treatment options. Again, basically the same information I was able to glean from multiple websites, but without biases like some sites had.**update 12/12/2016**Since my review, I've had a tritation study to determine the CPAP pressure I need, obtained my CPAP device (beware the bureaucracy of the entire process working between health care provider, CPAP provider, and health insurance), and have used my device for almost 2 months. I have a Resmed CPAP, and I'm favoring a nasal pillow mask, which is much more comfortable to wear as compared to a full nasal mask with chunky headgear.

We've just bought a nighttime O2 Sat monitor and realized that my boyfriend's levels are dropping into the 70s at night while he's in REM sleep (and I can hear him choking and gasping). He's scheduled an appointment with a doctor to get formally diagnosed. So, we're in the early stages. This book was well researched and clearly written, and I really appreciate it!

This is a beautiful book that tells the life of MT. I bought it for my girls when we went to the Final Profession of my good friend becoming an MC. She read it and enjoyed it, but told me that MC's had never pulled buggies in India!

I love all of the books Demi has written. The words and illustrations flow so beautifully together. Everyone should add Demi,to their collection.

Best book ever! Used library books tend to be well - used.

I am really angry to have received a copy of the book which is black and white. It looks like a photo copied version inside a color paperback cover. In fact, the very last page has print which says, "Made in USA, Lexington, KY, 27 August 2012". What a dishonest way to sell a book!! Nothing in the product description says this will be a black and white copied version of the book. There are no copyright pages or title pages. This is the worst purchase from Amazon I have ever made, and I will be returning it.

It's not often the words "work of art" and "biography" go together in the same description. In fact I'd have to say that up until recently I was of the general opinion that children's biographies tended to be dull and uninteresting-mostly written for the purpose of providing children with the pedestrian facts they require on research assignments. Authors/ illustrators like Demi have served to change that opinion drastically. And her latest title, Mother Teresa, is a picture book biography that is also a true work of art.Those readers who already know Demi will immediately recognize her stylistic and vividly colored illustrations in this book. Rich gold ink and brilliant scarlet make the pages come to life with a dramatically Eastern flair. Each illustrated page is a marvelous picture in its own right. Its no wonder Demi is an award-winner illustrator. She's illustrated more than 130 books for children, and her artwork appears not only in books and galleries, but also in the dome of St. Peter and Paul's church in Wilmington. I can only say that she truly brings the biography to life. This picture book account provides young and older audiences alike with the story of Mother Teresa, her mission to help the poor and her influence around the world. While the actual text is fairly brief, due to the format, it provides dates and events highlighting the turning points and important themes of Mother Teresa's life. Added to the text are prayer quotes, biblical quotes and quotes from Mother Teresa herself. These help to break up the life events, and add perspective and beauty to the book.At the very end of the book, Demi includes a listing of what is necessary for Mother Teresa to be declared a saint as well as a list of awards and honors that she was given in her lifetime. While, as I have said, the format prevents this from being an exhaustive account, it is an excellent introduction to Mother Teresa and the life she lived. The religious and spiritual aspects of the biography are handled with grace and respect without the book becoming preachy or judgmental about how that faith is expressed. And Demi's masterful art pulls the text together to create a wonderful tribute to a woman who had such a profound influence on the world.This book will probably be a bit complex for younger readers, unless a parent chooses to read it to them. The site recommends this book for ages 4-8, but I would amend that to closer to ages 6-12 with the added suggestion that this is a book that adults can appreciate as well. For more thorough exploration of the subject, readers may want to look for other books, but this is a good starting point. Those of you who enjoy this biography may want to look for Demi's other biographies that include such figures as Gandhi, Muhammad, and Buddha. This book helped me gain more insights into my thinking and has very helpful tips on how to change the way I think about things so I feel better about myself and be happier and more satisfied with my life. A good thing I noticed when reading this also is that I am already doing a couple of the things Damon suggests and they do work and it helped to know I am going in the right direction.

I spent quite a lot of time trying to figure out how to write my first ever review for any book in the most perfect way. It’s a mental struggle even to write a simple review without thinking too much:) Perfectionism is an addiction that I let myself succumb to. Of all things in life that can suck one’s happiness I think ‘perfectionism’ is the most stealthy one. There are so many things out there to blame for unhappiness and even when you blame yourself for it imagine how difficult it is to accept that you have fallen to your own self beliefs.This is a great book for someone who is struggling in life because of perfectionism. Even for others there are useful things to know. It doesn’t take a lot time to go through the book and this short amount of time would definitely be a time well spent for everyone.This book doesn’t cover a lot of theory or about psychological triggers for perfectionism. However there are references to relevant articles and studies. This is a very short book even so it took a very short time to connect with myself. I think this would be the case with you especially if you are a perfectionist. I could immediately connect to the personal experiences shared by Damon since that’s exactly how perfectionism affects me and also for the reason that my perfectionism doesn’t allow me to be challenged by others easily. I find it very important to learn lessons from someone who has walked the same path in which I am travelling now.I could easily acknowledge the “12 negative impacts of perfectionism” described in part one of this book. It was like someone describing my current experiences in life. Part two of the book helps to evaluate the severity of perfectionism in one’s life. I scored full marks on the pop quiz at the end of the chapter. Let me know if you beat me on that ;)The third and final part of the book is all about action where Damon lists 12 ideas to overcome perfectionism. Again these ideas are covered in very few pages and is to the point. You could clearly see that the focus is on getting someone to start executing them without spend too much time on reading a lot more.I have been following some of the ideas in the last few weeks and have seen a great impact already. Just reading the book has reduced my level of self-criticism. By following few of the ideas I have been able to avoid triggers that let my ‘perfectionist inner critic’ to take control of me. I also have been able to realize when I am under the influence of perfectionist thoughts and pull myself back on track. The same situation few months back would have carried me onto a runaway train. I am slowly working on following the other ideas too and would recommend everyone to give them a try. I know it’s a tough road ahead for us but I am sure Damon has more books in line to revitalize us down the road. Good luck everyone!Thanks Damon for this book. Very comprehensive content! The book is written straight to the point and practical exercises / solutions are included. I strongly recommend this book, whether you may need a guide for self improvement or just look for a reference for human studies.

In my opinion, this is one of the best books on perfectionism that I have read. Easy read with concrete examples and exercises that you can practice to work through to slowly rid yourself of a perfectionistic mindset. I believe that it is worth reading multiple times.

This book was extremely helpful to me. It helped me to see my perfectionism for what it is...a hinderance to accomplishing more, as well as a hinderance to experiencing freedom and joy in life.

This is the third book by this author I’ve read, and so far all resonate well with practical examples and tips...10/10.

I have learned that I am not a perfectionist as defined by this author, not at all. I always thought I was, but maybe I am "just" OCD. I feel so badly for anyone who meets this author's definition as life sure would be hell and an endless nightmare. Admitting that I am not a perfectionist, that ends up really not qualifying me to leave feedback on the suggested interventions, but I will anyway from my non perfectionist position. If one were a perfectionist, I would think it would take a tremendous amount of effort and time for the suggested interventions to work, and likely not even then. The mindset would be deep and a few techniques and exercises wouldn't cut it. Interestingly, there are numerous grammatical errors and I can't help but wonder if they were done on purpose to make a point.

Doesnt offer much in terms of guidance. Just call it a book fr the wicked.
